what we do
Waterside Craft Club aims to provide a safe and welcoming space for creative individuals of all abilities to come together to imagine, design, create and learn from each other.
Each week you can choose whether to work on an individual project or join that week’s craft tutorial, which over the course of the year will cover different elements of crafting using various materials.
Having launched in October 2021, we wanted to provide a regular meet up for anyone wanting to practice or learn crafts. We are lucky enough to have lots of talent in our members so we get to try many different types of crafts. We try to cover one craft type across two weeks so that everyone can join in, even if they have to miss a week due to other commitments. This extra week also allows participants to extend their skills in each new craft or style.
We look forward to meeting you!
Our ethos
Every skill welcome
We are an open and friendly group who welcome anyone of all skills or experience to our group. Having said that, we are an adults only group. We cannot unfortunately accommodate anyone under the age of 18 due to our insurance.
Always here
It was very important to our founding team that the club would operate in some form every week of the year and not just during term times like some other clubs. We recognise that some weeks will be more difficult for everyone to attend if they have childcare or family commitments, but for those who enjoy the consistent support and warmth of friendship, we aim to have it available all year round.
Your community, your club
Although we have an official committee helping to organise the club and make key decisions, we extend content and creative input to a wider group of members. We also really appreciate the energy and skills that our participants share when we tackle topics they are familiar with in the form of group teachers/session leaders.
We also have a wonderful group of volunteer helpers who do the heavy lifting of chairs and table set up, making teas and coffees and greeting new comers.
Without all of those who attend, the club wouldn't be the wonderful warm and welcoming oasis of creativity on an otherwise dull Thursday afternoon. Thank you

find your craft clan
This is a mixed ability group. We welcome everyone from experts to complete beginners. We are also keen to attract those with different interests and experiences so we can all learn from each other.
You are welcome to become a member and join us every week or just come as and when you can. There will be a flexible format so you can bring your own craft projects and work on them in the company of like-minded people for £2, or get involved in the group activity for £5 per session.
We will be having a monthly topic/focus activity which you can join in with as you wish.
These topics will range from Jewellery making, Pottery painting, Wood work, Sewing, Bag making, Working with Resin, Drawing, Painting, Christmas Wreaths and card making. We aim to include as many different and interesting activities as we can to include something to interest even our most experienced crafters.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available and we hope to provide a lovely relaxing, atmosphere for socialising as well as getting creative.
Come along and try some new things - you'll be in good company even if you're a beginner.
